Porositas menyebabkan gelembung udara terperangkap dalam kawat las, hal ini akan menurunkan kualitas pengelasan tersebut. Porositas material kawat las mungkin terjadi dalam proses ekstruksi, disebabkan bahan baku yang digunakan berkualitas rendah ataupun ditambahkan bahan lainnya untuk memberikan dampak volume sehingga dapat menekan ongkos produksi menjadi lebih murah.
