Metric combination wrench sets have a 6-pt. box end design that allows more contact with the fastener's sides than the 12-pt. style and prevents rounding the fastener's corners. The opposite side has an open end design that allows top and side access to the fastener compared to the box end that can only access a fastener from the top.
