Morakniv’s goal is to achieve the ideal balance between optimal sharpness and edge retention. The knife blade material is heat-treated by first being heated to over a thousand degrees in a protected atmosphere, then cooled down to room temperature. Finally, the knife blade is tempered at several hundred degrees to maximize the steel’s performance. After this heat treatment, the knife blade achieves a hardness of 56.5 HRC. The knife blade is side-ground under meticulous control, followed by precision sharpening of the edge, where the knife receives its Scandi grind through the honing phase. Finally, the knife blade is polished in two steps, a rough polish followed by a fine polish.Since the knife spine is not compatible with a fire starter, it is left unprocessed, with visible traces from the stamping stage.
