Apakah kipas angin itu?

Kipas angin adalah mesin bertenaga yang digunakan untuk menciptakan aliran udara. Kipas angin terdiri dari susunan baling-baling atau bilah yang berputar, umumnya terbuat dari kayu, plastik, atau logam, yang bekerja di udara. Rakitan bilah dan hub yang berputar dikenal sebagai impeller, rotor, atau runner. Biasanya, bagian ini hadir dalam beberapa bentuk casing untuk mengarahkan aliran udara atau meningkatkan keamanan dengan mencegah benda menyentuh bilah kipas. 

 

Sebagian besar kipas ditenagai oleh motor listrik, tetapi sumber daya lain juga dapat digunakan, termasuk motor hidrolik, engkol tangan, dan mesin pembakaran internal. Kecepatan hembusan angin pada kipas dapat dikendalikan dengan tiga cara, yaitu menggunakan pemutar, tali penarik, dan remote. Sementara itu, fungsi umum dari kipas angin adalah sebagai alat untuk mendinginkan udara, menyegarkan udara, ventilasi, dan sebagai pengering (biasanya kipas jenis ini menggunakan komponen untuk menghasilkan panas). Selain itu, kipas angin juga digunakan pada mesin penyedot debu dan berbagai bentuk ornamen untuk dekorasi sebuah ruangan. 

 

Kini, perkembangan kipas angin semakin beragam, baik dari sisi ukuran, peletakan, maupun fungsinya. Selain kipas angin mini yang dapat digenggam tangan, kipas angin juga dipakai dalam komputer, misalnya kipas angin untuk mendinginkan prosesor, casing, power supply, dan kartu grafis. Kipas angin juga biasanya dipasang pada tatakan atau alas laptop guna mengalirkan udara dan membantu kinerja kipas laptop dalam mendinginkan suhu perangkat tersebut. 


Secara garis besar, kipas angin terbagi menjadi dua kategori, yaitu berdasarkan cara kerja dan desainnya. Dilihat dari cara kerjanya, kipas angin terbagi lagi menjadi beberapa jenis, yaitu kipas angin tradisional yang digerakkan dengan menggunakan tangan, kipas angin listrik yang digunakan dengan tenaga listrik, kipas angin modern, kipas angin aki, dan kipas angin baling-baling. Sedangkan berdasarkan desainnya, kipas terdiri dari berbagai bentuk, mulai dari kipas angin meja, kipas angin duduk, kipas angin berdiri, kipas angin dinding, kipas angin gantung, exhaust fan, air cooler, kipas angin mini portable, dan kipas angin multifungsi.
