It's easy to use! This mud sampler is commonly used to collect mud samples from shallow ocean waters, lakes, and rivers, as well as benthos (small bottom-dwelling organisms). To use, open the semicircular jaw at the bottom of the mud sampler, secure it with a wire with a hook, and lower it to the desired location with a rope. When it hits the bottom, drop the messenger. When the messenger hits the head of the mud sampler, the hook comes off and the jaws close, completing the mud collection. Pull up the mud sampler with the rope to remove the sample. To remove a small amount of sample, slide open the top lid (with handle) and remove the sample. To remove the entire amount at once, open the semicircular jaw at the bottom and remove the sample.
