Shimadzu Diagnostics AccurateTM GVPC Agar Medium, 10 sheets

This culture medium is a selective isolation medium for isolating Legionella species from environmental water.
It is suitable for isolation testing from environmental water containing a high concentration of contaminating bacteria.
BCYEα agar, a non-selective isolation medium, is used as the basal medium, with glycine, vancomycin, polymyxin B, and cycloheximide added as selective agents.
When a large number of contaminating bacteria are present in the environmental water, non-selective isolation media such as BCYEα agar are often ineffective, and better results can usually be obtained by using multiple selective isolation media in combination.
However, because the antimicrobial agents in selective isolation media affect the growth of Legionella bacteria, it is said that non-selective isolation media such as BCYEα agar should be used in combination.
This culture medium has the same composition as those listed in "ISO 11731:1998(E)" and the "New Guidelines for the Prevention of Legionnaires' Disease."
