Description
This is an audio power amplifier IC developed by the former National Semiconductor (now TI). It is a typical product used as a power amplifier for low output power such as that used in radios and televisions. Although the circuit symbol is the same as that of an op amp, the LM386 is designed specifically for power amplifiers and is not an op amp. The amplification factor (gain) can be set in two stages, but it cannot be set arbitrarily like an op amp, and the method is different.
