Linkman Single volume, B characteristic, 10kΩ

This is a standard carbon film variable resistor with a diameter of 16 mm, a shaft length of 15 mm, and a diameter of 6 mm straight shaft. The B characteristic curve shows a linear change in tap resistance with respect to the rotation angle, and is used for general adjustments such as adjusting DC voltage. (The A characteristic curve shows an exponential change.) For volume control, the A characteristic curve is usually used because using the B curve results in a sudden change in the perceived volume. There are several other types, such as the C characteristic curve, which are classified based on the relationship between rotation angle and resistance change, but the A and B curves are the most commonly used.
