IR33 Universal Electronic Controller. Carel's IR33 series of universal electronic controllers are panel-mounted controllers with updated and upgraded modules from their predecessor, the IR32. The IR33 series controllers feature two independent control loops, an auto-tuning function, and a real-time clock for cycle and alarm management, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. The controllers feature a simple user interface with an easy-to-read LED screen and large control buttons for easy operation. They also come in a standard size of 76.2 x 34.2 mm with a 71 x 29 mm panel cutout. The units can be powered by 12-24 ac/dc or 115-230 ac. They can also be used with a transformer to power low-voltage controllers with 110 ac or 230 ac. All IR33 series controllers feature network connectivity for monitoring and programming, making them extremely versatile. An optional RS-485 series interface allows connection to SSRs, relays, or relay analog units for ease of use. Auto-tuning. The controller's auto-tuning feature provides critical accuracy during configuration. Auto-tuning uses rule-based calculations, typically used by experienced engineers, to set the controller to the setpoint or load when it is warmed to ambient temperature. The factory-default PID parameters provide standard control and functionality but are not optimized for the system controlled by the IR33. The controller's auto-tuning feature is used to fine-tune three control parameters to optimize the controller for your application. Real-time Clock. The IR33 series incorporates a real-time clock (RTC) that supports management of the controller's internal operating cycle and alarm logging. The controller's internal RTC is a low-power resource for accurate timekeeping, freeing up system resources for precise monitoring and control. The IR33-controlled operating cycle maintains accuracy using an internal clock that can continue to keep track of time even when the main system is powered off or unavailable. The real-time clock is critical to the accuracy of time-based controllers and should not be confused with a hardware clock, which manages digital information. Unlike a hardware clock, the real-time clock considers human time units for relative control.
