FTDI Chip Interface Boards FTDI Chip interface boards are USB to RS422 level serial UART converter boards featuring FTDI's FT232RQ USB to serial UART interface IC device, which handles all USB signaling and protocols. This allows for fast and easy connection of RS422 interface devices to USB. Each module contains a small internal electronic circuit board using the FT232R and a USB Type-A connector. The board requires a USB driver that is used to present the FT232R on the board as a Virtual COM Port (VCP), allowing users to communicate with the USB interface through a standard PC serial emulation port. These converters are compatible with Microsoft WHQL-certified VCP drivers for Windows, Apple Mac, and Linux.
