If there is insufficient ventilation indoors and there are a lot of people, the carbon dioxide concentration in the indoor air will rise, so it is useful as a gauge of the quality of ventilation and the density of people.
It can also display temperature and humidity (switchable display), so when used in conjunction with an air purifier, it is useful for keeping the air in the room clean and comfortable.
