SpecificationThermocouple Type: K Probe Diameter: 6mm Probe Length: 250mm Probe Material: Stainless Steel Terminal Type: Standard Plug Standard Compliant: IEC RS Pro Type K IEC Thermocouple Probe with Standard Plug Termination, Ungrounded. RS Pro Type The K thermocouple temperature sensing probe series complies with IEC 584-1 and 2 standards, providing fast response time and durable construction. This Type K thermocouple probe features a stainless steel 310 jacket and is terminated with standard IEC circular pin plugs for quick and easy connection. The inorganic insulation makes the probe's jacket soft and bendable, making it suitable for a variety of applications. This thermocouple has a single-element, grounded thermal junction that reduces electrical interference. Features and Benefits How Thermocouples Work Thermocouples are sensors used to measure temperature in a wide variety of processes. Two wire legs made of dissimilar metals are brought together at two points to form two points of contact. A hot junction (hot junction) is connected to the body whose temperature is to be measured. The cold junction (reference junction) is connected to a body of known temperature. Placing a measuring junction on a heat source creates a voltage or potential difference between this junction and the reference junction. This voltage is converted to a temperature measurement using a thermocouple lookup table. This process is also known as the Seebeck effect. What is an insulated junction? An insulated or ungrounded junction is where the wires of a thermocouple are welded together and completely covered and insulated by an outer protective jacket. Mineral insulation is often used. The advantage of this contact is reduced electrical interference and stable readings. What is Inorganic Insulation? Inorganic insulation is used to insulate the thermocouple wire from other wires and from the metallic probe coating that surrounds it. This jacket is filled with highly compacted magnesium oxide powder to prevent the conductors from contacting each other except at fixed contacts. The high density of the powdered minerals allows the thermocouple to respond quickly and promotes fast heat transfer between the conductor and the sheath. Mineral insulation also helps protect thermocouple wires from environmental damage such as corrosion, prevents electrical interference, and maintains mechanical strength and cable flexibility. Features and Benefits Heavy-duty 310 stainless steel cladding for high corrosion and oxidation resistance Meets IEC584 standards Standard IEC color-coded plugs for quick and easy connection Mineral insulation for flexibility, durability and high Delivers performance 0.5 mm diameter probe Insulated thermal junction reduces electrical interference. Applications. Type K thermocouples (nickel-chromium / nickel-aluminum) are the most common type of thermocouple. Accurate and flexible with a wide operating temperature range. Typical applications for this inorganic insulated Type K thermocouple probe include heat exchangers, power plants, brick/cement kilns, heat treatment, annealing furnaces, thermostats, food thermometers, vehicle diagnostics, and research laboratories.
