The twisted groove discharges small, curled chips to the rear, preventing chip clogging and making it ideal for blind hole machining.
Its sharpness makes it ideal for threading sticky work materials and plastics.

Intermittent cutting of pilot holes with key grooves is also possible.
The blade strength is inferior to that of HT, so the HT shape is more suitable for high hardness materials.
