ADVANTEC Separation Filter Paper No.2S

A filter paper with strong water repellency for the purpose of separating water and organic solvent.
Since it retains the aqueous phase and allows organic solvents to pass through, it is a filter paper that can separate the liquid phase instead of the conventional separatory funnel.
Separation can be done easily by placing the filter paper in a conical funnel and pouring the mixed two-phase solution directly in the same way as the analytical filter paper.
Compared to conventional separatory funnels, the time required for extraction is shorter, and it is possible to filter solids, which was difficult with conventional separatory funnels.
It can also be used for organic solvents that are heavier than water.
Both phases can be separated by stirring and mixing and pouring into the filter paper set in the funnel. Like a separatory funnel, you don't have to hold it until both phases are split into two layers.
* Cannot be used when the aqueous phase contains substances that lower surface tension (alcohol, surfactant, etc.).
* Cannot be used for suction filtration using a Buchner funnel.
* Only liquids that separate into two phases can be used (phases that are stable emulsions cannot be separated).
* Separatory filter paper is not resistant to dimethyl sulfoxide.
