The driver, tuning and acoustic package of Headphone (1) undergo rigorous auditing and fine-tuning in KEF’s specialised listening rooms to recreate signature sonic experiences.
Every element, from frequency response to soundstage, is carefully engineered using acoustic modelling software to perform consistently across different music genres and listening modes. Each round of testing ensures clarity, richness and emotional depth in every frequency band.
The process is repeated across multiple scenarios, including Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode and Spatial Audio, to guarantee balanced and precise sound output in any environment.

If you're not sure how to fine-tune your sounds, use in-app QR codes to upload profiles created by other users that sound good to you.

Headphone (1) is engineered for efficient sound delivery and vivid bass thanks to the custom-made 40 mm speaker and high-linearity suspension system with PU surround.
The PU surround moves more effectively than traditional materials like PET, creating deeper, richer tones in the low frequencies. Its 8.9 mm width exceeds industry norms, minimising distortion and keeping the driver stable to cast precise vibrations.

The diaphragm, rim and dome of the speaker are all finished with a nickel-plated coating. This helps deliver clearer high-frequency sounds while maintaining rich, powerful lows, so you can enjoy more layers of sound. The diaphragm’s added rigidity helps minimise distortion, revealing finer audio textures across every track.
