The SuperFast Thermapen is used throughout the world's food industries to measure temperatures in the range -49.9 to +299.9 °C. This is probably the world's fastest 'instant read' digital thermometer, measuring true temperature in just three seconds. It can do this because its reduced tip, stainless steel penetration probe (3.3mm diameter x 110mm long) needs much shallower immersion than many other cooking thermometers to obtain an accurate reading. The probe folds back through 180° into the side of the instrument when not in use. This model has a display featuring 360° self-rotation which turns on automatically so that the user can read the thermometer in any position, in either hand. Users can simply touch the sensor window to light up the display. The instrument recognises poor lighting conditions and darkness, in which cases it automatically turns on its backlight. Display alerts include low battery and open circuit (broken probe). A motion-sensing sleep mode turns the Thermapen on and off when the user picks it up and puts it down, maximising battery life. The plastic casing is washable and includes 'Biomaster' additive which reduces bacterial growth. An ergonomic rubber seal minimises the risk of ingress of water, dust or food.
