Corded straight wheel grinders rotate thick abrasive wheels or stones for moderate-to-heavy material removal. They function like handheld versions of bench grinders, using the wheel's edge as the grinding face. They are as aggressive as angle grinders but set their wheel at the end of a long, slim shaft to increase reach and access tight spaces. Straight wheel grinders are designed for a two-handed grip with one hand on the tool body and the other hand on the shaft behind the wheel. They are used to shape workpieces, smooth welds, sharpen cutting blades and bits, and remove material from flat surfaces, curves, and contours.
