3M Hookit Clean Sanding Back-up Pad holds Clean Sanding discs (sold separately) for applications that require conformability and edge flexibility, and enables a vacuum to suck dust off the workpiece to prolong disc life and enhance productivity. It has a tapered edge ideal for feather-edging or blending a painted area to match the rest of the workpiece.
The medium density foam provides some conformability for latter stages of surface sanding, and the 3M Hookit attachment style add the ease of a hook-and-loop attachment for easy changes and reuse, optimizing disc life. When used with a vacuum and a Clean Sanding abrasive disc, the series of uniquely designed holes and channels allows dust to be pulled through the holes and away from the sanding surface to prevent loading, increase productivity, and provide a cleaner work environment. The disc pad has external threads compatible with an orbital or random orbital sander.
The Clean Sanding dust-management system evacuates dust from the work surface better than 5- or 6-hole products, dramatically increasing disc life and maximizing cut-rate. Optimized with a self-generated vacuum sanding tool fitted with a Clean Sanding filter bag (sold separately), Clean Sanding products allow the vacuum to suction dust from the air and off of the workpiece. This reduces loading of the disc and adds life to the abrasive. Additionally, reducing dust in the air improves working conditions. You can also pair Clean Sanding abrasives with Clean Sanding disc pads for use on a central-vacuum-ready sander.
