Description
An aminoglycoside antibiotics effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Inhibitors of protein biosynthesis that acts on the 70S ribosome, causing misreading of the genetic code. May cause renal damage and ototoxicity. Useful for the selection of kanamycin resistant plasmids in E. coli. Tested and found to be negative for cytotoxicity against HeLa cells. Contains more than 98% kanamycin A.
