FRS and GMRS personal radios operate in a small range of the ultra-high frequency (UHF) band to coordinate indoor and outdoor group or family activities. They enable communication for vehicle caravans, camping, sporting events, field trips, and similar pursuits that don't require the wider frequency range, more advanced features, and heavier duty construction of UHF business radios.
