This device can be used as a level converter to interface TTL or NMOS outputs to high-speed CMOS inputs. These latches appear transparent to data when latch enable is high (outputs change asynchronously). When latch enable goes low, data is latched, meeting setup and hold times. The output enable input does not affect the state of the latch, but when output enable is high, all device outputs are forced to a high-impedance state. Therefore, data may be latched even if the outputs are not enabled. The 74HCT573A has the same functionality as the HCT373A, but has data inputs on the opposite side of the output, allowing for easier board layout.
