All circuits in this series are capable of driving 3.0 A loads with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available with fixed output voltages of 3.3 V, 5.0 V, 12 V, and 15 V, and adjustable outputs. Buck switching regulators are designed to simplify power supply design by minimizing the number of external components. Standard series inductors optimized for use with the LM2576 are available from several inductor manufacturers. Because the LM2576 converter is a switched-mode power supply, its efficiency is significantly improved compared to typical three-terminal linear regulators, especially at high input voltages. In many cases, its power consumption is so low that it either does not require a heat sink or is significantly reduced in size. Standard series inductors optimized for use with the LM2576 are available from several manufacturers.
