All circuits in this series are capable of driving 1.0 A loads with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available with fixed output voltages of 3.3 V, 5.0 V, 12 V, and 15 V, and with adjustable outputs. This buck switching regulator is designed to minimize the number of external components to simplify power supply design. Standard series inductors optimized for use with the LM2575 are available from several different inductor manufacturers. Because the LM2575 converter is a switched-mode power supply, it is significantly more efficient than a typical three-terminal linear regulator, especially at high input voltages. In many cases, the LM2575 regulator's very low power consumption eliminates the need for a heat sink, allowing for a significant reduction in size.
