The NCS5651 is a Class A/B, low-distortion, high-efficiency power line driver optimized for signals from power line carrier modems. It contains two op amps. The output op amp is designed to drive up to 2 A peak current. At 1.5 A output current, the output voltage always swings within 1 V of either rail, improving the signal-to-noise ratio. In addition to the output amplifier, the small-signal output op amp can be configured as a unity-gain follower buffer or as a 4-pole low-pass filter stage. The NCS5651 features a single resistor programmable current limit and two independent thermal flags with hysteresis. The thermal warning flag is indicated when the internal junction temperature reaches a user-programmable thermal warning threshold. The thermal error flag is indicated when the internal junction temperature exceeds 150°C. Typical applications include: Power Line Communication (PLC) applications, actuators, motor drivers, and applications requiring robust power amplifiers.
