This standard is used to define the level of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures.
The standards indicate protection against foreign objects such as dust and water.
The rating consists of the letters IP followed by two digits (IP66). The first digit represents the level of protection provided against solid objects.
The second number indicates the degree of water protection provided to the equipment inside the enclosure.
Example: IP66 = First number (6) is for solids. Example: IP66 = Second number (6) is for liquids.
